As most families we have boxes full of images. We have framed images on our end tables, images hanging on our walls. These images possess something special to use, they represent a split second in our lives. The most powerful images are not usually displayed at times but rather they are in a shoe box that we haven’t opened up in 10 years. And when we do, look out. All those memories start racing through our minds and the oh my god look how young i looked and all the statements that follow. Then we see images of loved ones that are no longer with us. And the happinesses that we shared with them brings tears to our eyes.
What makes an image so meaningful? I believe the context of the image in its purist form. That is why i shoot so many black and white images, and the reason why most clients hire me. My personal opinion is that a black and white image is most powerful and purist image there is. I started started developing black and white images in the basement of my mothers home when i was about 19 years old and that connection with black and white images has never left my heart.
The one thing that fascinated with is the connection my clients have with images displayed on there walls, sometimes like the image below that has been folded, is the only thing that our parents / grand parents brought with them from Greece. And below are two of those images. No matter what happens in life our images are our most meaningful possession. Without images our memories will no longer be able to rekindle that moment in time.
